CHARITY GOODS and TOGS CALENDAR

NEWSLETTER JULY 2008

We have taken advice from our Newsletter provider on avoiding SPAM emailing, and to further comply with Internet Guidelines, we are introducing Positive Opt-In for our newsletters. Our shopping cart also now includes a Positive Opt-In for newsletters. I have also, as far as I could, deleted all emails from customers asking to Unsubscribe from our last Newsletter, however, not all email addresses matched those on our database, so if we missed your particular email I apologise, however, this will be the last Newsletter you receive unless you Positively Opt-In.

To continue receiving our newsletter, please click on the Positive Opt-In link below and fill in your name and email address on the form and press send.

TOGS MARATHON - Closing Date for Registration - 12 Aug!!

TOGs are invited to join in with this year's TOGs marathon to be held over 29th-31st August. The TOGs marathon is different from any other marathon as it is the combined efforts of the TOGs added TOGether to make a number of marathons. The reason we do this is that most of us are not fit enough to ever complete a whole one, but we all want to get involved. It’s time to turn the tables on our TYGs and the younger generation, and ask them to sponsor us. All you have to do is agree to travel (under your own steam) an approximate distance, and get sponsorship to do this. Check us out at www.togsmarathon.co.uk

You need to register for the marathon at

http://www.ekmpowershop7.com/ekmps/shops/togscalendar/togs-marathon-151-p.asp

and we will provide you with a T shirt before the event.

Then you can either get sponsorship from a form you can pass round to your family and send us a cheque or you can ask your family to go to our Just Giving site at:

http://www.justgiving.com/togsmarathon2008 and sponsor you there.

You may do the deed on your own or email Kelly Sigh kelly@togsmarathon.co.uk and she will let you know of any TOGs in your area. We would love to have photographs of your event for possible publication on the website.

TOGS COOKBOOK

Many years ago, one of our TOGs Mandy Lifeboats, created the first TOGs cookbook. We were in discussions with Mandy to do a second one, but through unforeseen circumstances the book didn't happen, and unfortunately, we lost Mandy to cancer last year. We have now decided that the time is right to collect recipes for The TOGs 2nd cookbook. Edina Cloud has agreed to collect the recipes for us, and we will hopefully put the book TOGether before CIN night.

What we need is original recipes from TOGs, they may be serious, comic or poetic, but they must not be poisonous.

We will be contacting famous people asking them to include their favourite recipes too. All of the profit from the sale of this book will go to BBC Children in Need.

Please send your recipes to edinacloud@tiscali.co.uk

TOGS NEWSLETTER

Years ago, I, along with Gowon Lemmee, started a publication called TOGs Newsletter. It was set up originally for TOGs who did not have access to computers, so that they may share in part of the fun and frolics that is called TOGs.  The following year, I started TOGs calendar along with The Calendar crew, and this eventually took up so much of my time, that I had to give up the Newsletter.

Mad Mary Pridmore took it over and has been publishing it now for a few years, unfortunately, Mary is now busy with lots of other things and with the rising cost of postage from Spain this has now proven too much and she is giving it up and asked if I would like to take the Newsletter back. Now that I am a full time professional TOG, I feel I would love to have the chance to take it back.

I will look at the costs and the circulation, and will probably start the NEW TOGS Newsletter in print and online in August.

If you are interested in acquiring a printed copy, please email me hellenbach@ntlworld.com, or if you know of anyone who might want to have a printed copy but does not have access to a computer, please ask them to write to me Hellen Bach, P O Box 695, Newport, South Wales, NP20 4ZU.

If you have any articles you wish to write for possible inclusion, please contact me at the above addresses. I ask for only original material and very much TOG related.

TOGS VOYAGE

Sir Terry Wogan and his 'team' will be joined by a terrific talent this autumn when they sail the high seas on Cunard's latest classic Cunarder - Queen Victoria.

The TOG's Voyage departing 17 November 2008, is set to raise a considerable sum for the BBC's Children In Need. This twelve night exploration of the Mediterranean is packed with special entertainment, excursions and live programmes for Radio 2.

Jazz singer and Radio 2 favourite, Clare Teale, is jetting in to join the party and entertain the 'troops'. The 34-year-old Yorkshire lass jumped at the chance of hitting a few high c's. "I love Sir Terry and I love the TOG's." Said Clare. "I am really looking forward to the trip."

If you are interested in the Voyage, please go to www.charitygoods.com and follow the link from the front page.

VERY IMPORTANT - please note - to be counted as a TOG - bookings must be made directly online via THIS LINK or on the Cunard web site, or by contacting Cunard Line directly to book on 0845 0710300. Bookings through Travel Agents will NOT qualify!
