Cheque Presentation - 18th January 2008
We were proud to gather at the BBC Club for a cheque presentation with Sir Terry Wogan and BBC Children in Need. This year TOGs Calendar raised £1,021,143 through the sales of Volume 1 and 2 of the Radio 2 Janet & John stories, and £137,000 through the sales of the TOGs Celebrity Calendar, TOGs Calendar Merchandise, the sale of BBC Children in Need goods through our sister website at www.charitygoods.com and the money raised through the TOGs Calendar Auctions.
THAT'S A TOTAL OF £1,158,143!!!
We were sorry that Gowon Lemmee and Kelly Sigh were missing from our ranks, but they were with us in spirit I'm sure, but we welcomed Cocktail Clare, our latest addition to the TOGs Calendar Crew..
Sir Terry was accompanied by Alan "Barralands Boyd" and Phil Hughes from BBC Radio 2 and the presentation was made to David Ramsden, the Chief Executive of BBC Children in Need. We somehow managed to keep Chris McCluskey and Olivia Loughnan from BBC Children in Need out of the pictures, even though they came along to support us. Chris McCluskey is off on a secondment to BBC Television, we would like to thank Chris for his help over the past few years, and look forward to working with him again when he returns, oh and before he returns if he knows lots of nice television people!!
We would also like to thank Chris for arranging for us to go along to a project supported by Children in Need, a community playgroup project "The Sophie Centre" in Streatham in London. The project supports both disabled and able bodied children, and while we were there we joined the children in play, watched them sing and speak using sign language, which they are all taught, and we joined in music making singing along and playing musical instruments, Hells did a grand line in shaking her maracas!
It was great to see what our fundraising is all about, supporting projects such as this in their fantastic work. We have asked for permission from the group to publish some pictures from the day, and will get these up there as soon as possible.
