Young Songwriters Competition

We started the Young Songwriters Competition in 2010 and the competition threw up so many positives, for the children who took part, for the teachers, for the musicians and for the Charity. The video below showcases the final four songs from the competition.

We had hoped to continue our competition but have reluctantly cancelled it this year.

OLDIE COMPOSERS

We have started a competition for the older generation of songwriters, also in aid of Barnardo's. Full details can be found on www.oldiecomposers.com.

BARNARDO'S EMERGENCY APPEAL - TOGs

Hellen Bach and I have been asked to make an Emergency Funding plea to the TOGs on behalf of Barnardo’s but, before we give you the their message, we would like to let you know that we have recently been to a Barnardo’s Project and have seen at first hand the work that they do, and how vital that work is when other support is lost through financial cutbacks. Hellen and I have both been moved and inspired by all of our dealings with Barnardo’s and the people who passionately keep making a difference.

More than anything we want Barnardo’s to go on supporting the most vulnerable children in our society. I know you will feel the same way. So please can we ask you to give a special emergency donation before 24th March so that we can go on supporting children, young people and their families through these very difficult times? Please be sure to make cheques for the appeal payable to Barnardo’s. We will keep a track of all on-line and cheque donations and report back on the total raised by the TOGs in this appeal.

We are asking this, not for the sake of Barnardo’s as an organisation, but for many thousands of children who continue to need their support – children who could easily be forgotten and ignored if we are not there for them. One of the things that came out of our project visit was that Barnardo’s is a trusted organisation for youngsters who may not trust other organisations such as social services, healthcare and education who they see as authoritative. It is important that we can help them maintain their work and keep the trust of those who need their services.
