The maRAFon 2014 was held over the Easter Weekend, with events at Rustington and Green Park.
On Saturday 19th, the residents and staff of the RAF Benevolent Fund respite home, Princess Marina House at Rustington, took part in maRAFon 2014. Their story:
"On your Marks, Get set, GO! With a combined age of 2060 years, the oldest being 92 years young and the youngest 44 years old, the guests at Princess Marina accompanied by the Friends of PMH set off on their MaRAFon on the 19th April 2014. They covered a total of 40.3 miles over two hours covering both indoor and outdoor courses with some including the eldest, doing a 3 Mile round trip walk to Littlehampton harbour. The 'race' was followed by an indoor athletics race and they finished the day with Dinner and musical entertainment. Other fundraising activities included a table sale and raffle. The whole day including sponsorship raised a staggering total of £1033. Well done to all our participants and thank you to their sponsors. It just goes to show you are never to old to have fun!"
Then on Sunday the 20th the TOGs headed to Green Park where the weather was nowhere near as kind as it had been the day before. Eight TOGs took part, Norman Macintosh, Hellen Bach, Edina Cloud, Lucy Quipment, Gissa Bunkup, Dizzy Twilight, Pal Mal and MOG, and they covered a combined distance of 30.7 miles between them. There was even time for a spot of sightseeing along the very wet way! They raised £992, which with Gift Aid rose to £1,185.99.
Total raised so far for the RAF Benevolent fund is £2,218.99 WELL DONE EVERYONE!
